Breaking the Cycle

This program will include an overview of The Parenting Center, plus statistics and programs related to child abuse and what can be done to educate and break the cycle of abuse.

Join us for the monthly Women's Policy Forum membership meeting, Breaking the Cycle, to be held virtually on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Networking will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Announcements will begin at 11:50 a.m. with the program immediately following.


This event will be held remotely on Zoom. There is no cost to attend and guests of WPF members are welcome. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE THE ZOOM LINK. Please register guests separately.


Chris Butler has provided hope and opportunity in the nonprofit world for over twenty five years.  Chris is the Executive Director of The Parenting Center and has been with the agency since 2020.   Prior to becoming the Executive Director at The Parenting Center, Chris worked with the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth for the last 16 years. His most recent role was that of Vice President of Operations.  Part of Chris’ tenure with the YMCA was providing leadership to the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey trot and helping create an annual holiday tradition for thousands of friends and generations of families.  Prior to Fort Worth, Chris spent ten plus years with the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.


Chris is currently on the Board of Directors for LGBTQ Saves, the Benbrook Chamber of Commerce, and serves as the Chair for the Internal Affairs Committee with the Early Learning Alliance.  Chris is the proud father of five young adult children (20-26), provider for three dogs, an avid music lover (live or otherwise), and a fan of nature and anything outdoors.

Kathryn Thalken is the Senior Director of Programs at The Parenting Center. Kathryn’s current position allows her to reach all types of families and help them through the stressors each person faces in life by promoting healthy families and positive parenting. She holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, TBRI® Practitioner, and Family Mediator.

Kathryn has appeared regularly on Good Morning Texas since 2020, discussing topics such as bullying, education and positive parenting. Through her work at The Parenting Center, Kathryn has taught countless individuals and professionals about types of abuse, how to prevent them, and how to help those who have experienced them.
